Feed Adviser Register Reaches 1000 Members: 27 November 2013
The AIC Feed Adviser Register (FAR) which was only launched in May this year has already reached one thousand members. The 1000th person to sign up for the register was John Thornborrow of Lloyds Animal Feeds.
AIC welcomes FAO report on livestock production and climate change: 17 October 2013
The Agricultural Industries Confederation, which recently launched the Feed Adviser Register (FAR) welcomes a new global report that highlights how both livestock efficiency can be improved and climate change impact reduced, provided ‘best practice’ on mitigating greenhouse gas emissions is communicated effectively.
Livestock farming has the potential to increase profitability whilst at the same time reducing its carbon footprint, Agriculture Minister Michelle O’Neill has said.
While the production and safety of animal feed is assured by the various schemes operated by AIC Services (FEMAS, TASCC and UFAS), until now, there has been no corresponding standard to underpin the advice that accompanies feed onto the farm.

AIC met with AFS on 07 August to discuss the launch of the feed adviser register and how AIC could work with AFS to further develop an understanding of FAR.
The AIC, an active member of the Tried & Tested Professional Nutrient Management Group (PNMG), has set up an Feed Advisor Register in response to Government, industry and customer demands in the areas of Greenhouse Gas emmission reductions within the livestock sector.
